MISSION
NEWS
TODAY & TOMORROW
FROM THE DESK OF
OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As we reflect on the fiscal year 2022-2023, we are filled with gratitude and optimism for the future of our organization. This year has been marked by significant transitions, exciting new initiatives, and the successful completion of long-awaited projects.

Firstly, we acknowledge the retirement of several of our long-term staff members. Most notably, Carol McCrary, who has been an integral part of our Agency for 35 years, has retired. Carol's dedication and contributions have been immeasurable, and we are thrilled to announce that she has agreed to join our board of directors. Her continued involvement ensures that her invaluable experience and wisdom will remain a guiding force for our mission.

In response to the passage of SB639, which eliminates the use of 14(c) certificates in California, we launched our new Options program. This innovative employment service model is designed to maintain and enhance employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Options program exemplifies our commitment to adapting to legislative changes while continuing to support our community members in achieving meaningful employment.

We are also proud to share that construction of our accessible playground at the new Lynn Center preschool has been completed. This inclusive play space will be a cornerstone of our new preschool facility at our Country Hills location in Antioch, which is slated to open in late 2024. The playground is a testament to our dedication to creating environments where all children can learn and play together, regardless of their abilities.

Another highlight of the year was the grand re-opening of our Good Stuff Thrift Shop in El Cerrito. After an extensive period of closure, we were delighted to welcome back our community to this beloved establishment. The thrift store not only provides additional funding for our services but also offers valuable work training opportunities for our participants. Its reopening marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to support our mission through diverse and sustainable means.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to our vision of empowering individuals with disabilities and enriching our community. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners. Together, we are making a lasting impact and paving the way for a more inclusive and supportive future.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Sincerely,
John Bolle, Executive Director
